What is local SEO?

I always start by thinking of what counts as a local signal? As a local business you will want a registered address of the applicable location. Then once you have a valid address, you will want to add it to your website, along with a local number. For example, Manchester is an 0161 number and the post code will start with M.

You then want to mention somewhere on your website the locations you want your business to be found. Google can then understand this is where you want to rank and more importantly, potential customers from that Geographic region know you can serve them.

Once you have taken care of the website side of things, you want to list yourself in the top local business directories. Now don’t just go on a submission spree and submit your website to 100’s of business directories, you want to only submit to high quality local citation business directories.
